Curiosity Collage #42
We seldom have the time to look closely at objects that are both decorative and useful that have been thoughtfully designed and made by skilled craftsman over the many years - drawer handles, coins, military buttons, and tiny, delicate gears inside clocks…I CELEBRATE THESE!
Please scroll through the photos (there is a small arrow on the edge of the photos) to find the tag that describes every item in the collage. On the brown tag I have divided objects into Artifacts, Antiques - over 100 yrs old, and Vintage - over 40 years old. I also have $ next to things that are valuable enough to sell separately, but I love using items that are really beautiful and don’t care if I use things that are too valuable.
People seem to really like these aqua toned frames with a bit of gold. The first decorative brass piece was on an old mantle clock. The next is a solid brass Victorian (1800’s) drawer pull and the rectangle one is a special Arts and Crafts drawer handle. There is a Victorian cast iron door hinge and lots of various old clock gears and parts. It was on this collage in the middle of 2-24 when I started playing with putting rows of tiny things and I just find them whimsical.
This collage is 14 × 17”
